The Special Crime Wing (SCW) of the Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet against Kartik Choudhary, a Jammu native, for allegedly perpetrating visa fraud, duping several individuals under the guise of securing foreign employment visas. The chargesheet was submitted to the competent court on Monday, following a thorough investigation that unveiled a series of financial misdeeds.
The case dates back to a complaint involving a work visa for Portugal. Upon investigation, the Crime Branch uncovered additional grievances from seven complainants who reported similar fraudulent activities. The spokesperson for the Jammu Crime Branch indicated that these findings prompted a formal case against Choudhary, highlighting the alarming prevalence of such fraudulent schemes.
During the investigation, authorities meticulously evaluated various forms of evidence. They reviewed bank records, cheque details, and travel documents while compiling statements from both complainants and witnesses. The scrutiny of forensic evidence revealed discrepancies in signatures that matched with those of the accused, reinforcing the fraud allegations.
In an unrelated matter, the Crime Branch also initiated proceedings against a Srinagar-based company, Choudhary Enterprises, following multiple complaints regarding the non-execution of Modular Kitchen projects. Victims reported substantial payments had been made, yet the promised installations failed to materialize. A resident from Sainik Colony, Jammu, provided a detailed account of his experience with the enterprise, which involved a Rs five lakh loan sanctioned by J&K Bank for the project.
The complainant reported that Sajad Ahmad Wani, acting on behalf of Choudhary Enterprises, contacted him for the installation service. Despite assurances and subsequent payments, the work never commenced and the funds were not returned. This case underscores the alarming trend of financial deceit in Jammu.
Authorities confirmed that preliminary verifications further validated the claims made by the complainants. Consequently, they registered a formal case that spans several relevant sections of law, indicating a serious commitment to addressing these fraud cases.
This recent action by the Jammu Crime Branch reflects its dedication to combating fraud, particularly in employment and service sectors. Such proactive measures aim to restore public trust and deter potential offenders from exploiting vulnerable citizens.
