Swati Maliwal, the Rajya Sabha MP of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Delhi Women Commission (DCW) chief, has been accused by Delhi minister Atishi of being in contact with BJP leaders and being manipulated to fabricate allegations using an old Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) case as leverage.
Maliwal has accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her at the official residence of the CM on May 13.
Atishi claimed that Maliwal was coerced into fabricating the allegations against Kejriwal’s PA, drawing parallels to how various government agencies were allegedly used to coerce opposition leaders into joining the BJP.
AAP MLA and Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also suggested that the ACB case against Maliwal was behind her allegations against Kejriwal’s PA.
Maliwal filed a case against Bibhav Kumar, alleging that he physically assaulted her on May 13 at Kejriwal’s residence.
A day after her allegations, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh acknowledged that Bibhav Kumar had behaved inappropriately towards Maliwal and assured that strict action would be taken against him.
However, a purported video emerged showing Maliwal allegedly threatening Delhi police personnel and verbally abusing Kumar, casting doubt on her claims.
In the video, Maliwal is seen seated in the drawing room of the Delhi CM’s official residence, threatening the officers on duty and purportedly abusing Kumar.
The authenticity of the video has not been verified by The Statesman.
