Delhi Police Arrests Bibhav Kumar, Aide to Kejriwal, in Maliwal Assault Case

New Delhi : Delhi Police apprehended Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday at Kejriwal’s residence. The arrest comes in response to allegations by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal, who accused Kumar of assaulting her during a recent visit to Kejriwal’s home. In her complaint filed with the Delhi Police, Maliwal detailed being “slapped, hit in the stomach, and kicked” by Kumar. She reported fleeing the scene and immediately contacting authorities. Maliwal claimed Kejriwal was present during the incident.

The Delhi Police initiated an FIR based on Maliwal’s statement, citing sections 354, 506, 509, and 323 of the IPC, addressing offenses such as assault on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, criminal intimidation, and acts intending to insult and assault.

A forensic team from the Delhi Police examined CCTV footage from Kejriwal’s residence on Saturday, responding to Maliwal’s allegations of tampering with the recordings.
