Jammu and Kashmir Police executed a long-range patrolling and an anti-terror mock drill in Samba district on Tuesday, enhancing security measures ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. The drills aimed to boost operational preparedness and ensure a swift response to any imminent threats.
The long-range patrolling, carried out by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, spanned nearly 20 km along the Jammu-Pathankot national highway, specifically from Jatwal to Lala Chak. The meticulous patrolling serves as a proactive measure in securing the region during heightened security periods.
Following the routine patrolling, an anti-terror mock drill occurred at the border police post in Lala Chak. This drill simulated a terror attack scenario, enabling police personnel to evaluate their readiness in real-time conditions. During the exercise, two individuals mimicked terrorists executing an attack on an establishment.
The SOG quickly responded by establishing a cordon around the area, successfully neutralising the simulated threat. The exercise primarily aimed at refining the response mechanism and enhancing the tactical preparedness of the personnel. This proactive strategy aims to reassure the public of their safety as they approach the national celebration.
Samba Senior Superintendent of Police, Anuj Kumar, emphasised the police’s unwavering commitment to maintaining robust security arrangements. He assured the community of comprehensive safety measures, which are especially crucial in light of the fast-approaching Independence Day celebrations.
Kumar stated, “Our police force remains vigilant and prepared to tackle any potential threats. We are determined to create a secure environment for all citizens during this significant occasion.” These drills not only serve to prepare the police but also foster community confidence in law enforcement’s ability to protect public safety.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police continues to implement comprehensive security measures during festive times to prevent any untoward incidents. Such coordinated efforts highlight the importance of readiness in maintaining peace and order within the region. The long-range patrols and drills serve as a model of best practices that can be replicated across various sectors to enhance operational efficiency.
As India gears up for its Independence Day festivities, local authorities urge residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The proactive steps taken by the Jammu and Kashmir Police reflect their dedication to ensuring a safe celebration for all.
