RAMBAN, JULY 08: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gool, Imtiaz, convened a vital meeting today to evaluate disaster preparedness and inter-departmental coordination in Gool, a region increasingly vulnerable to natural hazards like floods, landslides, and cloudbursts.
The meeting’s attendees included key officials such as Tehsildar Harjeet Singh, SDPO Kuldeep Raj, and representatives from various departments, including health, power, and agriculture. This collaboration aims to fortify local response mechanisms as the monsoon season approaches.
During the proceedings, participants conducted a comprehensive review of the existing disaster management strategies. They assessed the availability of personnel, machinery, and essential supplies necessary for effective emergency response. The SDM urged all departments to maintain heightened vigilance and continuous monitoring of areas at risk from severe weather events.
The SDM stressed proactive measures and close collaboration among all departments. He directed the Jal Shakti, PWD, and PMGSY to pinpoint vulnerable locations and ensure restoration teams are on standby for prompt intervention.
Furthermore, the Health Department received directives to guarantee a supply of medicines, ambulances, and medical personnel at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Gool and local Primary Health Centres (PHCs). The Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA) Department was also tasked with maintaining a buffer stock of essential rations, while the Power Development Department (PDD) focused on establishing backup power arrangements.
To enhance community readiness, the SDM ordered Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars to regularly visit at-risk areas, maintain updated lists of disaster-prone zones, and elevate public awareness regarding safety protocols.
Collaboration with local law enforcement and military support units, such as the 23 RR, is crucial for orchestrating efficient rescue and evacuation operations. Beacon representatives were similarly charged with ensuring timely road restorations in the event of blockages.
The SDM reiterated the administration’s commitment to prioritizing public safety and property preservation. He highlighted that effective coordination, timely interventions, and community cooperation play critical roles in lessening the impact of disasters.
As the region braces for the monsoon, Gool’s administration stands ready to confront challenges posed by potential calamities, ensuring that both lives and livelihoods remain protected.
